ABSTRACT

Craft Corporations played an important role in social-economic colonial life, in the relations between crafts and the religious links with lay brotherhoods in their mutual characteristics that ensured protection to their workers, the economic role they played in urban life and the political role with the Senate Chamber. In addition, other features were related by their function as centers of protection, credit, and social security, and also for establishing the rules and criteria for carrying out the craft and to legitimate the product acceptance on the city streets (Martins, 2012).
