ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The goal of this paper was to better understand the stresses which are induced in glass-fiber meshes while the following loads are applied: 1) traffic of site trucks; 2) compaction of pavement layers, by study of the mechanical behavior of interface between the reinforced layer and their substrate in order to optimize the characteristics of the interfaces (choice of the type of emulsion, dosage of emulsion, application technology, etc. Manufactured and tested samples enabled the assessment of the quality of the bonding layers by tensile test. The objective was to evaluate the effect of the interposition of the mesh in between two layers of asphalt on the bonding and to determine if this insertion could affect this characteristic which is essential to the service life of the structure.
