ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: An important issue that should be considered during the construction process is to organize the concrete supply for building site. However, there are several factors which have to be taken into account for the selection of a concrete supplier such as the transportation time, travel distance, traffic density, type of concrete, concrete additives and required amounts of concrete. In common practice, the effectiveness of supplier selection mainly relies on the intuition of a construction manager. The aim of this paper is to propose a softwarebased methodology to better support a decision-making process regarding the selection of concrete suppliers. At this point, Google Maps Directions API employing a hypertext transfer protocol requests for collecting sets of different routes was used. An application example is given at the end of the paper to demonstrate the advantages of proposed approach.
