ABSTRACT

Right heart catheterization involves the measurement of right heart pressures, assessment of oxygen content from the right heart chambers, and calculation of valve areas when appropriate. Indications for right heart catheterization include the evaluation of intracardiac shunts, valvular heart disease, and dyspnea not explained by noninvasive evaluation (e.g. by history, physical examination, chest X-ray, or echocardiography).1
