ABSTRACT

The article discusses the concept of shaping twisted multi-storey buildings by the use of reciprocal systems of beams as structures of individual floor slabs. The slabs are of shapes of regular polygons, the number of beams is equal to the number of polygon sides, each beam is connected with at least one another beam and is supported on exactly one column. Next floors are rotated to each over as the result of rotation of the beams around constant points located along them. It allows to transfer all gravitational loads only via vertical mega-columns and to leave internal space empty, what makes shaping the functional layout easier. The paper presents the geometric relationships between dimensions defining the architectural form and dimensions defining the structural system. The results of static analysis have proved that the idea is rational from the point of view of distribution of internal forces from gravitational loads.
