ABSTRACT
A second point to make is the importance of bleeding as part of the presenting symptomatology. Haematemesis and melaena are the subject of Chapter 13 and will not be discussed here, but ‘bloody diarrhoea’ is an important clinical presentation, which has a clear differential diagnosis and it is discussed below.
