ABSTRACT

It is necessary to conduct two-dimensional nonlinear earthquake response analysis many times in order to evaluate probabilistic characteristic of residual deformations of a gravity type quay wall. This paper aims at proposing a simple estimation method of effects of variation in earthquake ground motion on residual deformation of quay walls. Variations of input strong motions are considered as ones of site amplification factors and of site phase characteristics. As the result, the distribution of residual deformation of a quay wall is simply estimated with residual deformations by 3 earthquake response analyses.
