ABSTRACT

The aim of the article is to show relations between culture, economic growth, and innovativeness, as well as present that values and norms play the key role for the economic growth of some countries and for its lack in case of others. Landes (2000) wrote, “Max Weber was right. Studying the history of economic development you cannot stop thinking that culture virtually decides about everything.” Economic success of certain immigration ethnic minorities can be taken as an example here, such as the Chinese in East and Southeast Asia or the Lebanese in West Africa (Grabowski 2010).
