ABSTRACT

Chapters eight and nine use matrices to represent images. Basic matrix operations can be used to alter the image contrast, light-dark and blurred-sharpened qualities of the image. In this chapter the matrix operations will be on the original matrix, which is often called the space domain. An interesting variety of images will be enhanced. A very nice general reference to image processing is [2], where the indicated www site links to many interesting images. The pollen, aerial, moon and micro chip images were used in [2], and the Mars Rover image was taken from NASA [11].
