ABSTRACT
This chapter reviews the possibility that gene-environment (GXE) interaction may play a role in suicidal behavior. Mof”t et al. (2005) stated that “a GXE occurs when the effect of exposure to an environmental pathogen on health is conditional on a person’s genotype.” Thus, some introductory remarks about the environment and genes, as they relate to suicide, will provide a background for the GXE studies to be discussed.
