The influence of paper type and state of degradation on laser cleaning of artificially soiled paper

Laser cleaning can be considered as a wellestablished technique in stone and metal conservation, while laser treatment of complex organic materials like paper, parchment, and textiles is still not fully developed for application in conservation workshops. Paper is a medium for conveying text and images. As soiling interferes with the perception of information paper cleaning may be needed.
