Microwave – assisted desorption of volatile organic compounds from activated carbon to a water phase

In the case of compounds with medium to weak solubility in water, adsorption is much more effective for the separation of the VOCs from the waste gases (Figure 2).

There is a need to add an additional process stage, where the VOCs are moved from adsorbent pores to the water solution (desorption) with simultaneous adsorbent regeneration.
