ABSTRACT

The First International Conference on Sustainable Construction, in Tampa, Florida, in 1994, was defined as “the creation and responsible management of a healthy built environmental base on resources efficient and ecological principles” (Kibert 1994). The Brundland Commission defines a sustainable condition for this planet as one in which there is stability for both social and physical systems, achieved through meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
