ABSTRACT

Dietary guidelines recommend the intake of dairy products as part of a healthy diet. The recommendation is usually two or three servings of these products daily within a balanced diet (WHO European Region CINDI Dietary Guide 2000; Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010). Dairy consumption is associated with a reduced risk of low bone mass, stroke, and some cancers (Weaver 2010; Dougkas et al. 2011; Da Silva et al. 2014). Nonetheless, the health effects of dairy are still controversial (Melnik 2009; Beavers et al. 2010).
