ABSTRACT

A deregulated power market creates a huge pressure to the System Operator (SO) to ensure a congestion-free transmission network for the continuity of power supply with minimum cost. This work describes Congestion Management (CM) with the integration of a Wind Farm (WF) in a double auction electricity market to minimize fuel cost, system losses, and Locational Marginal Price (LMP). The optimal location of a WF is identified based on the value of the Bus Sensitivity Factor (BSF); also, one load bus is selected for double auction bidding with the help of BSF. A modified 39-bus New England test system is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach presented here.
